I currently have an OceanKayak Prowler Angler Edition 13' and am purchasing a Cobra Marauder XF as soon as possible. Wife ok'd 2nd purchase...gotta love her.

I will be using OK mostly at Clearlake and Marauder for Ocean fishing.

Looks like a real sweet ride.

Are they available now?

We were told that there's an issue with the mold right now. So we're not sure when we'll see them.

Too many places to fish and not enough time, but I'm trying.

Keep us informed JohnS. I would definitely like to get my hands on a Kayak that fit my frame a little better than the Tarpon 160( My frame is 6’5” x 270lbs) Maybe by next summer one will be available for a test paddle.

They are out, and they are excellent. They made a number of minor but sugnificant improvements over the prototypes. It is fast quiet, and dry. We averaged around 4.4 mph in a headwind with medium chop (1 foot or so) for approximately 3 miles with little effort. did the same on the return. Paddles very similar to a P-15, but drier and with more storage. The ton of rocker makes it track less than a P-15, but it was fine in strong winds and current if you have any experience...on the up side it turns on a dime.

The boat had enough weight capicity ofr a 290# paddler handling a 70# sturgeon. What more do you need?

I want to try one out

I have heard some people complain about the Marauder having to much free board. With a small guy this might be true. I wonder how it would do with my 270 pounds and another 30 pounds of gear. I bet it will do well and I am eager to find out. My only other concern is if it has enough room for my 36 inch long legs. I have a tarpon and the tarpon is tight but usable in the legroom area. IF the weight and legroom issues are good I will buy one of these Marauders this summer. Just have to wait to test paddle until one is available and the water is warm enough. Stinks being tall.

This is simply not the case...not sure where that rumor came from. Your weight will be no problem, a lighter person is also just fine. If you really have a 36" inseam legroom will be your main concern. Legroom is ok, but not great. The footwells are tight. Its just fine for some, others just don't fit. Shoes or boots are a non-starter...barefoot or booties only.

MKLEIN, hey did you get the Marauder? I am interested in what you thought about it. I am also considering the Prowler 13, and wanted to know what you thought the better overall boat was between these two. Also, I heard about leg room problems, however, maybe my short legs will come in handy this time: 5"11/240/31"

Your shore legs will work fine in the Marauder as did mine.
