Frank  First off yes you need to have the caps on the bottom of the rod holders, if not the caps than you can stuff something inside of it to plug them and secondly I would go with nuts and bolts if that's not an option than my second choice would be rivets and third well nuts. There are many locations on the Big Game to be able to use Stainless Steel lock nuts, and bolts .....The round back area will fit a 4" deck plate that measures approx 6" in diameter ....You can install a hatch in front of the seat that covers anything you want to mount mid yak , and the front hatch covers the front area .... I didn't bother with the 2 round rod holder areas in the front of the B.G. as you would need Gorilla arms to reach them ...With the lock nuts and bolts/screws you can use a backing plate also to strengthen whatever you are attaching ...It's just a better job IMHO ...Jim
PS ...GREAT PRICE on the B.G. !!!...At that price , I'd buy a 2nd one !!!...
