I will be in Australia for the month of January for a study abroad trip with my school and I was hoping to get some fishing in while I'm there. I won't have any equipment of my own so I was hoping you could give me an idea of some ways to get out. I'm open to all kinds of fishing, kayak or otherwise. I'll be in Melbourne the first three weeks and will have weekends free, but this is where we are doing most of the actual work on the trip. I will also have a few days in Cairns and then almost a week in Sydney. I can look up more exact dates if it helps. I know this is a bit last minute, but any help would be appreciated.

Hi Bigfluke45,

I don't live near either melbourne, Sydney or Cairns so I am unable to help.

Check out http://www.akff.com.au. It is the Australian Kayak fishing forum and there are some very good blokes on it from Melbourne and Sydney. I am sure they will be very glad to help if they can.

Put a post there and I am confident you'll get replies. Hope this helps mate and enjoy your visit. All three cities are beautiful places with excellent fishing.

Regards,

Mick,
Hervey Bay
Queensland.

No Worries Bigfluke,
Mate, I saw your post on AKFF and welcome aboard. It might be a good idea to post a little information about your self - age, gender, yaking experience etc. You haven't given the boys much to work with.

I would help you out if I could but the closest city you will be at is more than a thousand miles away. Good luck mate and enjoy you stay in my country.

regards,

Mick

I have been in Melbourne for a day now and have access to a computer, but I am having trouble posting on the australian kayak fishing forum. I can login, but it says at the bottom that I cannot post. If anyone from that site sees this can you let me know what could be causing this.

Bigfluke, the computer you are using may be set to not accept cookies...just a stab in the dark.
Hopefully Phil or someone else from the Forum will come to the rescue.

Hi Bigfluke45,

Dogfish could be correct... check the PC you are on will accept cookies. The forum software logs you IP address when posting but it shouldn't lock you out if you try to poat from a PC with a different IP.

Regards,

Phil.

I appreciate all your help, but I can't seem to figure it out. I am logging in and my name appears at the bottom where it shows the users online. I've checked the internet options and I think cookies are enabled so it may be just some weird setting at the university. I'll see if I can find another computer to try it from. Also I should add if have been having a great time in Australia. All the people and places I've meet and been to have been real nice. I'm looking forward to to doing some fishing while I'm here. I'll keep posting here until I can figure out a way to post on AKFF.
