We have a few members from OZ who are regulars. I'm sure they'll be popping in.

Too many places to fish and not enough time, but I'm trying.

G'day Mate !

Yeh, there's a few Aussies that frequent this great forum. I'm in Adelaide & BillyBob is up in sunny Noosa. There might be more too...

What part of Tassie you from ? I was down in Hobart for the weekend about a month ago. It was only my second visit to Tassie in 12 years & it was great to get down there again. I reckon I'd move down there if I had the chance !

Regards,

Phil.

G'day pegron and welcome.
Yo Mariner. Check out this month's 'Modern Fishing' magazine. It's got a canoe/kayak paddle fishing supplement in it and I've got a four page yak fishing article in there.

G'day all,
Yeah BB saw that article, made me want to both move north and get a SOT. I've been using a 7ft and a 12ft sit in for river trout, and estuary/ near shore salt. Great fun but nothing like what you get.
Mariner, I'm in launceston so mainly fish trout in season and salt in winter, nice place to visit but...
(you can tell I'm not born and bred).
cheers

I read on another site where a surfer had been killed recently by two Great White Sharks, off the western coast of Australia. Have you guys heard much about it?

Yep, it's been on the news regularly for the last couple of days. Terrible, just terrible.

The Great White is a protected species down here & the local dept. of fisheries has been trying to find them which has created almost as much hubbub as the attack itself, especially since the victims brother & surfing mates have said they don't want them hunted.

W.A. had another fatal shark attack a couple of years back so we just hope a trend isn't emerging.

Phil.

G day pegron,
I actually sent you a pm (on another site) yesterday checking "your not to miss" trout hotspots. I'm doing a Tassie run in Nov/Dec and would also be up for a paddle if your keen.

G Day also BillyBob and The Marriner, will have to check out Modern Fishing.

Hi Phil,

Seems like a Barbie under the southern cross is going on! "I'll have a chop thanks, and is Chooka about he owes me twenty bucks". Always a "Chooka" at a BBQ.

I'm from Melbourne, originally grew up on the Ocean Rd. Fish a few different locations around Vic, favourites are probably in East Gipplsand. Also love chasing trout and natives in the fresh, yet to come across a big murray cod though (he'll be c & r if I do). Ever paddled around Nelson? Yet to get that way but it's on my "to do" l;st. Checked out your site aswell, great effort and an interesting read!

Hi Poddy,

I'm always up for a barbie, mate ! This time of year a Bundy & Coke would be better than a beer though...

No, haven't paddled 'round Nelson but who knows, maybe someday.

Thanks for the kind words on my site. Kinda hope it will promote kayak fishing down this way a little.

Regards,

Phil.

Hey guys, I just joined up.
I'm from Melbourne and mainly fish Port Phillip Bay around Ricketts Point for pinky Snapper on soft plastics. When the Salmon are in, I have a crack at 'em with the Fly rod.
I'm in the process of setting up a better yak, so the DIY forum has been great Big Grin
Regards
Rod

It's OK to fish here, but I'd love to go out yakin in shorts and a t-shirt :-)
Guess I have to wait another 6 months:-(
