There was an article about this award-winning rocket scientist in the Miami Herald today, which stated that "Kearney, a Fort Lauderdale resident, remained in critical condition at Broward General Medical Center late Tuesday. It was unclear what injuries he suffered."
What a dumb ass. Anybody stupid enough to attempt kite surfing in a tropical storm gets what they deserve when they get slammed into a building. Hopefully this moron hasn't had a chance to reproduce and bring equally stupid children into the world. I have absolitely no sympathy for that kind of reckless behavior.
Why paddle, put a motor on it

You'd think he'd let go the first time after it was dragging him face first across the beach. cookoo
I've never kiteboarded before, but aren't you actually tied to the kite in some manner? So that when you jump off waves on the open water the kite kind of takes you up, rather than having to hang on.
What a putz. Hope he didn't die. But if he did we'll be reading about this again in the '08 Darwin Awards.

I think you actually are connected to the thing. Another funny thing I saw was a Channel 7 reporter babe standing in a torrential downpour along a sea wall in Key West, openly chastising people for being stupid enough to be out in that weather!
