Does anyone run a capacitor on their fish finder. I've noticed that the screen on the Cuda 250 will get a solid vertical black screen (lost of signal) when another accessory (trolling motor, live well pump) puts a load on the battery. I've used a separate battery for the ff and it still happens. Will wires overlaying wires cause this interference, if so would installing a capacitor help smooth out this power supply The transducer or mounting is not the problem Thanks
Steve, your solution may be as simple as usng wire with a thicker insulation.
Example: In commercial/residential wiring you can use low voltage wiring (security alarms, etc.) along side of 110 volt wiring as long as both have the rating of the 110 volt insulation, which, by the way is 600.
Steve, my degree is in electronics and although I recieved it at least a 100 years ago some principles stay the same. Anyway, since you tried a seperate battery and that didn't work you are almost cerainly picking up the EMI from the other equipment. Try seperating he wire or use shielded cable for the devices. If this doesn't totally solve it try different grounding points for the uninsulated wire that is connected to the foil shield. This should work.
