Lets see if capt. Jimbo can clarify some things for us... I have several questions I need answered, but I will start with just one"

The whole of your point is that I didn’t understand how displacement would change, how I didn’t understand that the boats couldn’t hold the same weight, that they would displace different amounts if the paddler weight stayed constant.

Looking at my original post, I state:

“…Notice that these mythical kayaks presented above are all identical in design, the only initial variable changed is legth... Beam is static, draft.. weights etc.. capacities, volumes etc.. change of course accordingly.”

So what’s your game? doesnt the whole argument crash right there.

Here are some more of my "sychphants" scaling down Kayaks, and then comparing the Kaper numbers...

Geeeeez, let it go already. Face it, Jimbo was right and most people agree with him. An independent designer and the creator of Kayak Foundry agree with him. I'm no expert but thanks to Jimbo even I understand and agree.

Your 15 minutes are up.

Jimbo - pleeeeez don't answer

I think it's time for both of you to shelf this one. Can't you agree to disagree? Both of you make good points and it is thought provoking - up to a point!!
If you really can't bear to relax, maybe PM-ing would be a good idea. Then the mature one of you could just ignore it.

since the post clearly stated 'capt. Jimbo's response only please' and several have posted... none by the name capt. jimbo... let me be the first to welcome Yakin Dude! the_wave welcome_sign

With that said, thanks for informing the forum of our opinion on the subject. I know you speak for everyone.

Again...Welcome aboard!

PS...do you fish or just paddle? rofl

Uh Oh.... the more mature one between us!? Like looking for a hamburger at the Hindu Family Picnic.

Jimbo should at least, I think answer some fundemental questions if he is going to be so, well, obnoxious..

Like answering the above inquiry for example. I agree its getting old, and I have responded to Jimbo time and time again... like the "email" he recieved from Leidy (which was actualy a forum response posted on Kayak Foundrys Forum, this is where Capt. Jimbo misrepresented himself to Leidy, and duped him into giving the correct answer to a disingenious question)

Here is what Nick Schade has to say on the topic

"...Just because the displacement might not match what the boat will see when you paddle it, doesn't really matter. The DWL is used for calculating all the other particulars such as waterline length, draft, prismatic coefficient etc. And while changing the DWL will effect these number it won't make a huge difference and can still be used for relative comparison purposes.

( the real topic.. not what Leidy was duped into answering, again leidy wasnt wrong at all, it was the questions nature)

Here's a link to the forum

http://www.kayakforum.com/cgi-bin/Design/index.cgi/noframes/read/970

No, it wasnt my doing, I didnt sneak off and pretend to need information or anything... thats would be just childish and really whiney)

I linked to the forum a while ago, I also addressed the nonsensical "poll" question where Capt. Jimbo fumbled so badly fumbled "reliable" he still cant quite fiqure out reliable vs. valid etc... as evidenced by his latest ramblings.

I pointed out where he initialy said the kayaks were not even close to being the same... he appears to have at least fiqured out that they are.. or at least he realized his initial assesment and methodolgy were wrong (he hadnt quite fiqured out Kayak Foundry yet at that point)

But they were very much the same in regard to most measures (except of course as I strated at the out set, displacement)

To say that idividual drag numbers for one specific boat are not valid is nonsensical, for the statement to be true, there would have to be fault with Leidy's program... it would have to spit out numbers which were intented to be a measure of something they were not, in this case friction.

For the individual numbers to be unreliable, they would need to vary at the output stage, despited input always remaining constant.

The numbers are both valid and reliable

But at last Houdini you are correct, and I will not win in an argument against the Capt', he cares only to shout the loudest in hopes that someone will assocciate loud with true.

He doesnt much care what others think of him, if they question him, or dont see him as the authority.. they are merely "sycophants" and the unwashed... those who opinions of him dont matter anyway.. as they are not worthy (ya' know, like I feel about him)

He's not saddled with a desire not to be thought of as a pompuos fool, so he can afford to do things like ignore things like "the point".

I do however care about other members opinions and preceptions of me however... so I will shut up now I promise. Red Face

From One Ocean Kayak... some of my "Synchophant" Minions.

geeee... look at that... scaled model kayaks with Kaper numbers compared... who woulda' thunk it? Roll Eyes

http://oneoceankayaks.com/kayakpro/kayakgrid.htm#frianch

Course the displacements vary... see those "asses" knew that too... and so did Capt. Jimbo because I said it at the outset...

Which makes him a "DELETED BY MRSINBAD" ( sorry guys, someone had to say it!) Red Face

This is the 2nd. time I posted this example.. maybe this time Jimbo' has something to say about it? How many more nails do I need to put in the guys coffin? Frown

OK I promised I would shut up now so I will... Red Face
