The older I get, the more I want to stand up and fish from my yak. I like skinny yaks to get there and fat yaks to stand up in.

Anyone ever considered the feasibility of a yak that used a type of "stirrups" much like a saddle? Retractable cutouts mid beam that would allow your legs to extend well below the water line?

Wind related cabin fever.

Use outriggers.

I have an idea for outriggers that fold up when not in use. Speedy to get out, stable when you're there.

Of course if you are really that old, then a crutch might be handy. LOL Just don't stick it in a scupper hole!

Then if you REALLY want to get crazy, how about adding a mini tower to sit on? Like a bar stool?

Nawwwwwww, best just stick to outriggers. Smile

IMO the Native ultimate 14.5 offers the best of both worlds. A truly functional boat that is extremely comfortable to sit in and standable as well.

You might want to check out Native Watersport's offerings. Like Yak4Fish stated, these kayaks are not only designed to be stable, they are designed to be stand-up craft, to be poled.

I tried the Native Magic 12' and was surprised at how stable it was, yet how fast it paddled. It tracked quite well also.
